The City of Greater Sudbury is looking for a skilled and forward-thinking Water/Wastewater Facilities Engineer to support the planning, design, rehabilitation and optimization of critical municipal infrastructure. In this role, you’ll help ensure the safe, reliable and sustainable delivery of water and wastewater services for our growing community.

What You’ll Do

• Lead capital projects involving water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, pumping stations, reservoirs and related infrastructure.
• Support long-term asset management planning and state-of-good-repair programs.
• Provide technical leadership in the design, operation support, rehabilitation and optimization of water and wastewater systems.
• Coordinate engineering studies, feasibility assessments, lifecycle evaluations and technical reviews.
• Develop and manage scopes, schedules, budgets, procurement documents and tender specifications.
• Collaborate with consultants, contractors, operators and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery.
• Review engineering designs and consultant deliverables to ensure quality, constructability and regulatory compliance.
• Supervise staff and contracted resources while supporting employee development and performance.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and briefing materials for senior leadership and Council.
• Participate in emergency response planning and cross-departmental initiatives that support public health, environmental stewardship and operational excellence. 

Requirements

• A degree in civil, environmental, chemical, mechanical engineering or a related discipline from a recognized university.
• Membership or eligibility for membership with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• A minimum six years of related engineering experience, including experience supporting or managing capital infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, pumping systems and municipal infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of asset management, municipal engineering standards, procurement and project management practices.
• Experience working in a regulated, public-sector or unionized environment is considered an asset.
• A valid Class G driver’s licence with an acceptable driving record.
